Hilda left her job at Wells Fargo Bank in Bloomington, MN to pursue her passion for fine cuisine. She started her catering company, International Gourmet, in 2000 shortly after relocating to Texas. She began by catering lunches for doctor’s offices in Amarillo, TX. A true foodie, her interest in food is eclectic, spanning all types of international food. However, her professional focus is on Northern Italian and Jamaican cuisine.
After moving to Memphis in 2005, she joined a group of professional women that met for a Girls’ Night Out dinner once a month. With the encouragement and support of these friends, Hilda resumed building her catering and personal chef business, International Gourmet, in Memphis. When business slowed down during the depth of the recession, she branched into her cake baking endeavor, Cake Bliss, in 2009. Cake Bliss has thrived since then, producing what many consider to be the best pound cake in the mid-South.
Hilda and her husband Ray, a hematologist and medical oncologist, are naturalized Americans who were born in Nigeria. The Osarogiagbons are raising their three teenagers in Germantown, TN. They love travel, Shakespeare and, of course, food & wine.
International gourmet by Hilda catered for an out-of-state reception in one of my daughter’s wedding ceremonies. The reception was for 200 guests with assortments of dishes; as many as 12 different main dishes and multiple appetizer choices. I was really impressed at how organized and efficient her service was, especially since she was from out-of-state. The food tables were beautifully decorated and well arranged, the food quality and taste was great. Our guests had so much fun trying the different dishes and commented very positively about taste. I couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out. I will use the catering service again for any party I have.
Hilda’s hard work ethic and passion really showed when she catered our engagement party dinner. She forecasted the proper amount of supplies to meet our party’s needs. She had full control of the food and was able to promptly serve and breakdown according to our timeline. Hilda is a true professional who will bring it and can throw down in the kitchen.
